But for those who aren’t familiar with H-E-B supermarkets, the Houston Chronicle just ran a story highlighting how great the grocery store chain is. In fact, it’s the best in the country, as recently named by Food & Wine, and we couldn’t be happier for our neighbors across the street!
There are obvious reasons to love H-E-B, but one of the factors that Food & Wine Magazine cited for the number one spot was “the grocery store's prompt response to the coronavirus pandemic and its customers needs as we all made the move to staying at home far more often.”
"What was already good — the affordable prices on a wide range of high-quality own-brand products, the in-store tortillerias, the excellent curbside pickup program — seemed even more important now," David Landsel writes for Food & Wine. The ranking wasn’t just because of the variety of products they carry or how beautifully designed their stores are, but how they treat customers and adapt to these current changing times.
